What is Virel?
Virel is a new Layer 1 blockchain introducing the world’s first MiniDAG, a consensus system that brings DAG-like scalability to a linear blockchain. Virel's mainnet launched in August 2025 with no pre-mine, and features smooth emissions, a 15-second block time, and a CPU-friendly proof-of-work.
Instead of relying solely on sequential blocks, Virel’s MiniDAG prunes side-blocks and determines block order immediately, enabling sub-second confirmation times and improved security. Combined with merge mining and the RandomVirel PoW algorithm (an ASIC-resistant fork of RandomX), the network is both efficient and resistant to centralization.
