What is Gaelium?
Gaelium (GAEL) is a proof of work cryptocurrency running on its own blockchain, launched on 15 June 2026. It uses the KawPoW algorithm, which is designed for graphics cards and resistant to specialised ASIC hardware.
The emission follows a published seven tier schedule that steps the block reward down over time, ending in a perpetual tail reward of 5 GAEL per block that keeps securing the network. The target block time is 120 seconds. The first 200 blocks were mined by the core team and public mining opened at block 201.
Gaelium is community driven and open source. Desktop wallets are available for Windows, macOS and Linux, alongside a mobile wallet, a public block explorer, an official mining pool with no fee, and several independent community pools.
