Namecoin is a domain name registry service, and was one of the first coins fork off of Bitcoin. Similar to registering a .com or .io domain, with Namecoin you can register a .bit domain on their network. However aside from just registering domains, the Namecoin network’s unique value proposition is that its decentralized design renders it impervious to user tracking and censorship resistant.
