What is Songbird?
Songbird (SGB) is the Canary Network or operational blockchain for the decentralized network Flare (FLR), used to test features prior to the launch of Flare mainnet. The goal of Flare Network is to bring full smart contract utility to the Ripple (XRP) ecosystem. Songbird will launch as a pure Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) smart contract network to enable testing of network architecture and third party decentralized applications (DApps). Similar to Flare, the SGB token may also be used to facilitate community governance. Songbird's primary objective will be the continued testing of Flare network architecture as a whole, with focus on the Flare Time Series Oracle, StateConnector and F-Asset systems. Use of Songbird as the testbed for updates to Flare means that between Flare and Songbird, Songbird will often be the more advanced network.
